President Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank of Nigeria’s governor, Godwin Emefiele,from office with immediate effect.
A statement issued by the Director Information in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation says.
The development was sequel to the on-going investigation of Emefiele’s office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.
Consequently, the CBN governor has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate) who will act as Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation.
