The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) visited the Dangote Group headquarters in Lagos seeking details of foreign exchange allocations from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) dating back to 2014.
Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of the group, reportedly clarified the visit, stating that they received a letter on December 6, 2023, requesting information on foreign exchange allocations and emphasized the group’s commitment to cooperating with EFCC investigations.
He noted that no accusation of wrong doing had been made against any of the company within the group.
The EFCC had insisted on collecting the documents directly and visited the office, causing some inconvenience.
The Dangote Group, a significant contributor to Nigeria’s economy, has already delivered the first batch of documents and is actively working to submit the remaining ones. The company calls for understanding and patience from stakeholders as they comply with the investigation.
