President-elect Donald Trump has reeled what he would do as soon as he gets sworn in in office come January 20, 2024, for his second term as the 47th president of the United States of America.

Trump said his policy thrust will immediately go into issues that have been at the core of his presidential campaign such as; Executive order banning funding of gender-affirming health care.

Recall that during his campaign Trump had repeatedly berated his opponent Vice President Kamal Harries of the Democratic Party over their support of transgender rights.

Trump promises striking out some of these policies with a stroke of the pen using his executive orders, while those requiring congressional approval will require an assist from Congress in the form of passing new legislation that could take months to complete.

“On day one, I will revoke Joe Biden’s cruel policies on gender-affirming care — ridiculous. I will sign a new executive order instructing every federal agency to cease all programs that promote the concept of sex and gender transition at any age,” Trump said in a video posted to social media. “I will then ask Congress to permanently stop federal taxpayer dollars from being used to promote or pay for these procedures and pass a law prohibiting child sexual mutilation in all 50 states.”

Trump also said he would support allowing “victims to sue doctors” who have performed transgender procedures on children.

He will also ask Congress to pass a bill that mandates that the only genders the federal government will recognize are those assigned at birth.

The second most important policy thrust , Trump says is immigration and the deportation of illegal immigrants.

Trump promises to begin the “largest deportation operation in American history, that will round up and remove up to 20 million illegal immigrants from the US. This, he plans to do on day one of his administration, including deporting undocumented immigrants who have committed one crime or another.

In line with this, he plans to revisit the border policies he enacted during his first term but which ended under Biden, such as “Remain in Mexico,” which requires asylum seekers to wait in that country as their cases are being adjudicated by U.S. judges.

Trump ran in 2024 on the promise that he would implement sweeping tariffs on foreign imports in an effort to spur U.S. manufacturing and to force other countries to change their policies.

“I think that tariffs do need to be used to get counterparties back to the table, especially China, which is not living up to all of the agreements they made,” Steve Mnuchin, who served as treasury secretary during Trump’s first term, CNBC reports.

Other areas president-elect Trump intends to focus on are prioritising expediting permits to expand U.S oil drilling, overturn President Biden’s policy on climate change, including the inflation Reduction Act.

Trump has promised to end all federal incentives to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles, and he has also pledged to do away with Biden-era fuel efficiency standards.

He has also promised to end the war between Ukraine and Russia in just 24 hours after assuming office by striking a deal between the two warring countries.

On Iran, Trump plans to pick up from where he left off by imposing new U.S sanctions on Iran, however, this will require congressional approval
