The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has reported a remarkable 20.79% increase in the country’s non-oil exports, reaching $5.456 billion in 2024, up from $4.5 billion in 2023. This growth highlights Nigeria’s continued efforts to diversify its economy beyond its reliance on crude oil.
NEPC Executive Director, Nonye Ayeni, disclosed the information during a media briefing in Abuja on Friday, ascribing the growth to focused government initiatives and a boost in exports from sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and solid minerals. She further noted that other key exports contributing to the rise include cocoa seeds, butter, sesame seeds, cashew nuts, urea, and other manufactured goods.
Ayeni noted that the collaborative efforts between the NEPC and relevant agencies have been pivotal in driving this achievement. She further attributed the growth to the federal government’s effective fiscal and financial policies aimed at boosting trade and economic diversification.
