United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc is set to take centre stage at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, where it will host global leaders, policymakers, and investors to spotlight Africa’s economic opportunities. The event, held from September 15 to 25, will feature high-level engagements aimed at unlocking the continent’s vast potential.
A major highlight will be the launch of UBA’s first-of-its-kind whitepaper, “Banking on Africa’s Future: Unlocking Capital and Partnerships for Sustainable Growth”. The document outlines actionable strategies in trade, infrastructure, digital innovation, climate finance, and inclusive growth, positioning Africa not just as a destination for investment but as a critical driver of global prosperity.
In addition, UBA America will host a Business Council for International Understanding (BCIE) Roundtable, while the bank’s annual reception will convene world leaders, policymakers, and business executives to deepen dialogue on investments and development.
UBA Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu, stressed the importance of turning discussions into tangible outcomes, noting that the bank will “actively work to implement these outcomes for the benefit of the continent, as committed partners in Africa’s development and sustainability.” Group CEO Oliver Alawuba also called on private sector players to demonstrate their commitment to Africa’s growth through concrete action.
UBA, with operations in 20 African countries as well as the UK, US, France, and the UAE, serves over 45 million customers worldwide. With 25,000 employees, the bank continues to champion financial inclusion and innovation while driving investments that support Africa’s sustainable future.
