President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates from the 68 nominees confirmed by the Senate. This is the first group of diplomatic appointments under his administration.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced the postings on Thursday. Ambassador Ayodele Oke will go to France, Colonel Lateef Are to the United States, Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, who was previously envoy to South Korea, as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, and former Kebbi State governor Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman to Turkey.
President Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to formally notify the host countries in line with diplomatic protocol. The posting to Turkey comes ahead of the President’s scheduled state visit to the country next week.
Recall that Tinubu submitted a list of ambassadorial nominees to the Senate in November after nearly two years of vacancies at foreign missions, followed by an additional 32 names. By December, a total of 67 nominees had been confirmed by the Senate.
