Some investment tips for college students wishing to build their financial future
For a 20-year-old student investing a small allowance, the key lesson is not to chase hype about one “secret stock.” Instead, build a simple portfolio around strong companies leading the AI ecosystem. You could start by regularly investing small amounts into a few reliable tech leaders such as Microsoft, Alphabet, and Nvidia, or a broad index like the S&P 500 so you own many companies at once. Invest consistently (even small amounts monthly), think long-term (10+ years), and avoid risky “get rich quick” picks. The essentials are simple: buy strong companies, invest regularly, reinvest gains, and give your money time to grow.
Here are some stocks to watch out for:(NASDAQ: MSTR) is being highlighted by analysts as one of the stocks that could deliver strong long-term returns. Investment firm Clear Street recently reduced its price target on the company’s shares to $198 from $268, citing weaker Bitcoin prices and more cautious yield expectations. Despite the cut, the firm maintained a Buy rating, stating that MicroStrategy remains well-positioned in the digital-asset treasury space and could benefit if bitcoin prices stabilize and regulatory reforms improve the market environment.
The company also disclosed in a regulatory filing that it purchased 1,142 bitcoins for about $90 million between February 2 and February 8, at an average price of $78,815 per coin. The latest purchase raises MicroStrategy’s total holdings to 714,644 bitcoins, acquired for roughly $54.35 billion, making it the world’s largest corporate holder of bitcoin.
CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRWD) is a cybersecurity company that helps businesses stop hackers and protect their computer systems. The company sells cloud-based security tools that protect devices, detect threats, manage IT operations, and monitor system activity. Analysts at Citigroup recently lowered their price target for the stock to $525 from $610 but kept a Buy rating, saying the company’s latest quarterly results were still solid.
CrowdStrike has also partnered with Schwarz Digits to bring its Falcon cybersecurity platform to the STACKIT sovereign cloud in Europe. This partnership will help European companies and government institutions protect their systems while keeping their data inside the EU, which is important for meeting strict cybersecurity and data protection laws.
In simple terms, leaders like Jeff Bezos, Andy Jassy, and Elon Musk are saying that artificial intelligence (AI) could become one of the biggest technologies in history—bigger than the internet or smartphones. AI systems can write, analyze data, design products, help doctors diagnose diseases, and even control robots. Because AI can improve almost every industry, companies building the technology—like Amazon, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Alphabet—could become extremely valuable. When Musk talks about a $250 trillion opportunity, he means that AI and robotics could create huge new businesses across many sectors, not just one company. That’s why big investors like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett are paying attention.
