President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council, with the exit of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, according to a report by Vanguard newspaper.

A memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, announced that Taiwo Oyedele will replace Edun as finance minister, while Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named minister designate for Housing and Urban Development. The directive requires all handover processes to be concluded by Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Akume said the changes are intended to strengthen cohesion in governance and improve economic delivery under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the president acted within the powers granted by Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The president expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well in their future endeavors, while assuring remaining cabinet members that efforts to reinvigorate government performance will be ongoing.
