Court Sacks Gov Uzodimma as APC Candidate

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has been sacked by a Federal High Court in Abuja as the Imo West senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (PC.

NATIONAL POST reports that the judgment was delivered on Thursday by Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Uzodimma has been in a legal battle with his predecessor, Rocha’s Okorocha, over who is the rightful APC candidate for the election slated for January 16, 2027.

But Justice Egwuatu held that Uzodinma did not win the May 18 primary election conducted by the APC and monitored by INEC.

The judge held that evidence presented before the court proved that former governor Rochas Okorocha actually won a majority of the votes cast at the poll and should be declared the winner of the election.

Egwuatu subsequently ordered the APC to forward Okorocha’s name to INEC as candidate of the APC in the 2027 general elections for the Imo West Senatorial election.

He also ordered INEC to immediately accept Okorocha as a lawful candidate for the APC and publish the same.

The Judge found that most of the documents used to nominate Uzodinma were fabricated in breach of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act.

Uzodinma is the incumbent Governor of Imo State, and his tenure will lapse on January 14, 2028.
