Bandits have set free all the remaining of the over two hundred schoolchildren abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic Private Primary and Secondary School in the Papiri community of Agwara Local Government Area, Niger State.
Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Catholic Bishop of Kontangora Diocese , Bulus Dauwa Yohanna reportedly confirmed this development. Bishop Yohanna is also the proprietor of the school.
Reports say that 115 of the children kidnapped last month from their school regained their freedom on Sunday. Earlier in December 100 of the victims were freed, leaving behind 115 others, including their teachers.
Fifty of the students reportedly escaped earlier from the bandits’ captivity.
Official reports from the desk of the Presidency disclosed that all the kidnapped schoolchildren have been released and that none is remaining.
The freed schoolchildren are reportedly undergoing medical examination before being handed over to their parents on Monday.
The abduction occurred in the early hours of November 21, 2025, when bandits attacked the boarding school, seizing 303 students and 12 teachers.
