Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has formally announced the sale of its Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for candidates aspiring to contest various elective positions under the party’s platform in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Sen. Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, National Chairman, and Barrister. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu Esq., Secretary of the party announced that the sale of Expression of Interest Forms will begin on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and conclude on Monday, May 18, 2026.
According to the schedule provided by the party, the screening and interview process for aspirants, which will determine their eligibility to purchase Nomination Forms, is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, May 19, to Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The party has urged all aspirants to participate in the screening exercise with their pertinent credentials and supporting documents.
The sale of Nomination Forms will commence immediately following the screening exercise, from Thursday, May 21, to Saturday, May 23. Completedpleted mustred to be submitted by Monday, May 25, 2026.
Additionally, the NDC indicated that any appeals resulting from the screening process will be addressed on May 25 and 26, while the primary elections for various elective offices are scheduled for May 27 and 28, 2026.
The Presidential Primary Election is set for May 29, 2026, in Abuja.
The party clarified that candidates seeking tickets for State Houses of Assembly will undergo screening in their respective states, whereas the screening for candidates aiming for National Assembly and Presidential positions will take place at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja.
It was also revealed that governorship primaries will be conducted at the local government level.
According to the statement, all aspirants will be required to sign an undertaking in accordance with the party’s guidelines and code of conduct.
The NDC has assured its members and aspirants of a transparent, inclusive, and democratic process regarding the sale of forms and the conduct of primaries.
The party has also declared its intention to implement the “open secret ballot” system for its primaries, aiming to ensure credibility, fairness, and internal democracy.
The NDC has pointed out that its sanctioned nomination fees are among the most affordable when compared to those of other significant political parties in the nation.
The detailed breakdown of the approved fees is as follows:
State House of Assembly:
Expression of Interest Form N1 million, Nomination Form N1.5 million.
House of Representatives:
Expression of Interest Form N2 million, Nomination Form N4 million.
Senate:
Expression of Interest Form N3 million, Nomination Form – N5 million.
Governorship:
Expression of Interest Form – N10 million, Nomination Form – N20 million.
Presidency:
Expression of Interest Form – N20 million, Nomination Form – N40 million.
In addition, the party announced that its female candidates and individuals living with disabilities, PWDs, will be required to pay 50% and 25% of the fees, respectively, across all categories.
The party reiterated its dedication to a transparent and credible primary election process that is capable of yielding qualified candidates for the 2027 general elections.
