Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has added additional names on the earlier list of 32 ambassadorial nominees.
This brings to about 65 the total number of persons nominated by the President for consideration by the Senate for ambassadors of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Recall that President Tinubu had just last week submitted 32 names to the Senate for ambassadorial positions. Some of the names on the list had generated quite some controversy among Nigerians.
Prominent in the new list is the immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas.
The President also named Senator Ita Enang, Chioma Ohakim, former Imo state first lady and Abdulrahman Dambazau, former minister of interior and former chief of army staff, as non-career ambassadors.
Some of the controversial names in the old list include Reno Omokri, former INEC Chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu, as well Femi Fani-Kayode.
The extensive list in addition to the old one are currently undergoing security checks an confirmation by the Senate.
