United States President Donald Trump’s administration has announced his intention to commence a major action towards quelling the activities of terrorists in Nigeria.
In order to demonstrate its commitment towards ending the alleged genocide of Christians in Nigeria, the US government has placed visa restrictions on Nigerians funding or supporting the criminal elements in the country perpetrating the killings and abductions of innocent people in the country.
The United State Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, made the announcement in a post on his official X handle on Wednesday.
In the post, Rubio stated that the visa policy applies to Nigeria and other governments or individuals perpetrating the alleged massacre of Christians in Nigeria.
He wrote: “The United States is taking decisive action in response to the atrocities and violence against Christians in Nigeria and around the world.
“The State Department will restrict U.S. visas for those who knowingly direct, organise, authorize, fund, support, or carry out violations of religious freedom.
“This visa policy applies to Nigeria and other governments or individuals that persecute people for their religious beliefs.”
Recall that weeks back, the Trump government had declared Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern over alleged genocidal killing of Christians.
Although the Nigerian Government has consistently maintained there is no genocide in the country, officials of the United States Government have maintained their stand.
