Labour Party: BOT Sacks Nenadi Usman, Others

By Our Reporter

The Board of Trustees, BOT, of Labour Party has sacked the interim National Working Committee, NWC, members, led by Senator Nenadi Usman.

The  BOT accused the members of failing to carry out the mandate given to them to organise nationwide congresses and a national convention to elect substantive party executives.

In the notice, dated December 2, 2025 and signed by BOT Chairman, Comrade S.O.Z. Ejiofor, and Secretary, Comrade Salisu Mohammed, it stated that the statutory NEC will soon meet to put in place another NWC.

Consequently, the BOT ordered senator Usman and the Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwaokocha, to immediately halt all activities been carried out in the name of Labour Party and handover all documents belonging to the Party to the BOT Secretary.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has restored the Julius Abure group as the authentic leadership of the Labour Party, thereby further deepening the crisis in the Party.

It could be recalled that after the Supreme Court judgement on the LP leadership, the party’s National Executive Committee named an interim NWC leadership led by Senator Nenadi Usman, with Senator Darlington Nwaokocha as secretary.

The team has been piloting the affairs of the party since then.

It remains to be seen where all these changes would lead to, as many political pundits allege that it is all in a bid to frustrate the presidential ambition of former Anambra governor, Mr Peter Obi, who had contested on the Party’s platform in the 2023 election.

Mr. Peter Obi has continued to affirm that he remains a member of the Labour Party.
