2027 Fears Deepen as ADC Youths Demand INEC Chairman’s Exit Over ‘Bias’

By Our Reporter

The youth wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for the resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing him of failing to uphold the Electoral Act and acting with bias.

The group said INEC’s refusal to recognise the party’s leadership and accept its correspondence violates constitutional provisions and undermines democratic fairness ahead of the 2027 elections.

ADC youths argued that INEC had earlier monitored, verified, and recognised the party’s leadership led by David Mark, only to later reverse its position without clear justification

They described this reversal as unlawful interference in internal party affairs, stressing that INEC lacks the authority to interpret court orders or pick sides in political disputes.

According to them, the commission’s actions could prevent the party from meeting key electoral deadlines, effectively blocking it from fielding candidates.

The youths warned that such moves suggest partisanship and could erode public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process. They gave INEC a 72-hour ultimatum to reverse its decisions or face nationwide peaceful protests, insisting that democracy must be protected from what they called institutional sabotage.
