Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso in Action as Save Democracy Protest Rocks Abuja

Opposition leaders and several concerned Nigerians are currently in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, demanding the preservation of the country’s democracy.

This comes amid concerns that the country is drifting into a one-party state.

Some protesters are already at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office in Abuja as part of the “Save Democracy” protest.

Many of the protesters were seen wearing “Operation Save Our Democracy” T-shirts, while others carried red and white placards with various messages on them.

Videos in circulation show protesters and some prominent politicians.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso are leading the protests.

The atmosphere at the venue was full of energy as protesters chanted songs “We no go gree,” with some chanting “INEC Chairman Amupitan must go.

INEC had last week derecognized the Senator David Mark-led ADC leadership.

Meanwhile, The National Post reports that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde; top figures of the African Democratic Congress led by David Mark; and key members of the Peoples Democratic Party under Tanimu Turaki have converged at Mark’s residence in Apo, Abuja, for what insiders describe as a strategic opposition gathering.

Present at the high-level meeting are former Attorney General Abubakar Malami, alongside former governors Rotimi Amaechi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Aminu Tambuwal, Peter Obi, and Babangida Aliyu.

Also participating in the talks are former Information Minister Jerry Gana and PDP National Secretary Taofeek Arapaja.

The closed-door meeting was held hours after the African Democratic Congress staged a protest earlier today at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja, signaling rising political tension and coordinated opposition activity.
