Air Peace Opens Lagos–Brazil Route, Boosting Nigeria–Brazil Ties

By Our Reporter

Air Peace has launched its maiden direct flight from Lagos to Brazil, marking a historic milestone in Nigeria–Brazil relations and positioning the airline as a key driver of connectivity between Africa and South America.
The new service, the first of its kind by a West African carrier, cuts travel time to just seven hours and eliminates the need for stopovers in Europe or the Middle East.

The launch comes on the heels of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, where aviation was highlighted as a catalyst for deepening economic, cultural, and trade ties. Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), described the development as the “first fruit” of President Tinubu’s diplomatic shuttle, noting its potential to unlock new opportunities in commerce, tourism, and regional integration.

Air Peace Chairman/CEO, Dr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, lauded the initiative as a bridge between Africa and South America, stressing the importance of partnerships built on respect and mutual growth. He said the new route symbolizes not just expanded aviation access but also the opening of a strategic economic corridor for both regions.

The Lagos–Brazil service will operate three times weekly, with plans to increase frequency. With this expansion, Air Peace strengthens Nigeria’s role as a regional aviation hub while extending Brazil’s access across Africa, underscoring the airline’s growing presence on the global aviation stage.
