Babcock University, one of Nigeria’s leading private institutions, is set to establish a new pharmacy school with the support of Nigerian philanthropist Chief Kessington Adebutu.

Adebutu is sponsoring a major project—a six-floor, three-block building at the university’s Ilishan-Remo campus in Ogun State. The new facility, would be named the Dame Caroline Kessington Adebutu (KJV) School of Pharmacy, in honor of his late wife, Mrs. Caroline Oladunni Adebutu.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Babcock University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo, highlighted the significance of the project, stressing its potential impact on Nigeria’s healthcare sector.

He stated that the initiative aims to combat the growing challenge of counterfeit drugs and advance research into various health issues in the country. Prof. Tayo also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare education and improving the nation’s health infrastructure.

Prof. Ezekiel Adeniran, Associate Vice-President for Works and Physical Planning, assured attendees that the project would adhere to the highest ethical standards, ensuring that quality is maintained throughout its execution.

The building, being developed by CadTech, is scheduled for completion by October 2025, according to Jide Idowu, the company’s CEO, who pledged to meet the set standards.

This development marks a significant step forward for Babcock University’s mission to contribute to the advancement of healthcare education and address critical challenges within Nigeria’s health sector.
