Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has resigned from his appointment in the Bola Tinubu administration.
His resignation comes following the directive by President Tinubu to his appointees seeking elective positions in the 2027 general election to resign their appointments on or before March 31, 2026.
Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad confirmed Tuggar’s exit in a statement on his X account on Monday.
According to Ahmad, the minister submitted his resignation on Monday. His resignation will be read at the Federal Executive meeting. He is billed to contest the Bauchi gubernatorial election in 2027.
“The Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, will bid farewell to the Federal Executive Council today as he steps down from his position to pursue the governorship of Bauchi State,” Ahmad wrote on X.
