The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, has vowed to proceed with the planned protest and strike come Wednesday August 2, 2023, despite president Tinubu’s national broadcast t the people on Monday, July, 31, 2023.

According to Labour, they claim that president Tinubu’s nationwide speech was not reassuring, adding that his policy on subsidy removal before providing a cushion for the people was akin to placing te cart before the horse, and was not going to lead the country anywhere.

Labour faulted Tinubu’s approach to the fuel subsidy pointing out that it was not well thought out. They berated the government of Bola Tinubu for hastily implementing the policy without any clear thought out measures on how to alleviate the plights of the common masses as a result of the subsidy removal. They posited that the government’s action lacked the ‘human face’ needed for honest and transparent governance.
