Winner of the Yobe North Senatorial ticket of the All Progressive Coingress, Bashir Sheriff Machima has denied withdrawing for Senate President , Ahmed Lawan nor resigning from the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, party, adding that the whole news about his resignation or purported withdrawal was a ruse.
In a letter dated September fourth, and addressed to the APC national chairman, Senator Machima purportedly announced his resignation from the party, thereby making way for Lawan who had indicated interest in running for the Yobe North Senatorial seat, which Machima won, after losing his presidential race.
Reacting to the fake resignation letter by him, making the rounds in the media, Machima attributed it to the handiwork of mischief makers, who want to ensure that Lawan gets the Yobe North Senatorial seat , after, he, Machima had refused to step down for Lawan.
According to Machima, he said: “It has been brought to my notice that some unscrupulous persons have forged my withdrawal letter out of mischief and blackmail.
“I want to state unequivocally that the purported letter was forged. I did not at any time withdraw or resign.
“I was shocked that some people contrived plans to mislead the public particularly my supporters into believing that I have resigned in the letter dated September fourth, 2022 and addressed to the national chairman of the APC party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, purportedly announcing my resignation from the party.”
