Pro-Democracy Group Warns Rivers State Governor Against Accord with Nyesom Wike
The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) USA, a pro-democracy group, has cautioned Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State regarding the implementation of a peace accord with his predecessor and Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The group expressed concerns about the potential negative impact of the truce on the state’s political and economic future. NADECO emphasized that the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State goes beyond tribal and ethnic divisions, characterizing it as a battle between democratic principles and anti-democratic actions.
The group questioned Governor Fubara’s engagement with the President and the All Progressives Congress (APC), raising doubts about his independence and the sincerity of the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) internal conflict resolution efforts. NADECO urged all parties involved to prioritize the well-being of the people and regional stability over external manipulations.
