The lasting impact of Mr. Sam Adurogboye, the recently retired General Manager of Public Affairs at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), was highlighted during his retirement celebration. Capt. Chris Najomo, the Acting Director-General Civil Aviation (ADGCA), commended Adurogboye’s substantial contributions to positive media coverage since he joined the organization in 2000. Represented by Engr. Samuel Ngene, the Lagos Regional Manager, Najomo urged staff, particularly in the Public Relations Department, to follow Adurogboye’s example.

Expressing delight, the ADGCAA celebrated Adurogboye’s career pinnacle as the General Manager, acknowledging the rarity of such achievements in civil service. He thanked Adurogboye for being a voice of the NCAA and a media rallying point, noting the significant void his departure creates.

Colleagues and friends from the aviation industry praised Adurogboye for his practice of returning unspent budgets, a rare act in civil service. Mrs. Carol Adekotujo, the Assistant General Manager of Public Affairs at NCAA, described Adurogboye as a mentor, teacher, and peacemaker, underscoring the privilege of learning from him since joining the service in 2001.

In response, Adurogboye expressed gratitude to those who supported his tenure at NCAA, encouraging them to contribute to the system’s growth and add value to everyone they encounter. He highlighted his legacy of returning unspent budgets, leaving the system without blemish. Adurogboye recalled how Capt. Musa Nuhu, the immediate past Director-General Civil Aviation, rejected his retirement letter based on his outstanding contributions to the system.

He concluded, “Let us always think of how we can help the system to grow and also think of how we can add value to other people. Within a twinkle of an eye, all of us will be outside. It is the lives you touched and the values that you add to the people that will help you in your days of adversity.”
