The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to fight for every vote in the 2027 general election, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and other relevant bodies to ensure a free, fair and credible process. The party’s national leader, Seriake Dickson, said the NDC would take its case directly to Nigerians and ensure that no vote was taken for granted.
“We will take our case to the Nigerian people, and every vote will be fought for. Every vote will be contested,” Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West in the Senate, said on Arise News’ Prime Time on Wednesday.
Dickson also disclosed that the party plans to fund its campaign through small contributions from ordinary Nigerians, with individuals able to donate as little as N1,000 or N2,000. He said the initiative aimed to reduce individuals’ influence over Nigeria’s political process.
“You cannot allow your democracy to be funded by moneybags and billionaires who are now trillionaires using government resources. You will continue to be oppressed,” he said, describing the NDC as the only political party that does not receive funding from the government treasury.
The senator said the party was also consulting on the composition of its presidential campaign council and would announce its members soon. He stressed that the NDC wanted a transparent process, adding that it would not repeat the experience of parties that announce arrangements only to withdraw them later.
