The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has expelled Nyesom Wike, alongside other members, for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities.
Among those kicked out of the party with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom wike are: the factional Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade, Ayo Fayose, Austine Nwachukwu, and others.
They were reportedly shown the way out at the Party’s National Convention currently taking place in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The decision, which was approved by a majority of the delegates was reportedly taken in the interest of the party and to restore unity, discipline and focus as the party prepares for the coming general elections in 2027.
Chief Bode George, former National Vice Chairman of the party, South, reportedly moved the motion for the expulsion . The motion was seconded by Hon.Samalia Burga, Chairman of the PDP in Bauchi.
Despite moves to stop the convention through court injunctions, the meeting finally held and will continue in the coming days with about four governors in attendance.
It remains to be seen how those now former members of the party affected by the decisions will react to it, and what implications it will have on their political future.
