Former president of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter turned 100 on Tuesday, becoming the first ever US president to attain the century mark.

The ex president celebrated his 100th birthday with his close family at his hospice home in Plains, Georgia, where he has lived for the past 19 months, no longer able to appear in public.

His longevity is one that has, no doubt , surprised everyone.

President Joe Biden, in a video posted on his official X account, described the one term democratic president as a “beloved friend” and “one of the most influential statesmen” in US history.

“Your hopeful vision of our country, your commitment to a better world and your unwavering belief in the power of human goodness continues to be a guiding light for all of us,” he said.

Jimmy Carter, 39th president of America, served as president for a single term from 1977 to 1981. Among other philanthropic works he did, he founded the well-respected Carter Center in 1982 to pursue his vision of world diplomacy.
