Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has issued a stern deadline for criminals—including kidnappers, cultists, drug dealers, and others—to surrender by February 28, 2025. Those who comply will receive amnesty and rehabilitation under the state’s new security initiative.

This move is part of the governor’s broader effort to make Anambra State safer for citizens and businesses. It follows the recent launch of the state security system, known as ‘Operation Udo ga Achi’ (Operation Peace Shall Reign), which is supported by a fleet of 200 vehicles and over 2,000 personnel.

The state government also enacted the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025, which was signed by Governor Soludo at the inaugural ceremony of the security operation in Awka on Saturday. The personnel for the operation include members of the Nigerian Army, Police, Navy, DSS, Civil Defence, Special Forces, and Agunechemba—Anambra’s homegrown security outfit.

To further strengthen the effort, Soludo outlined plans to integrate high-tech surveillance, including Artificial Intelligence-powered cameras, tracking systems, and a state-of-the-art command-and-control platform. Special task forces will be deployed to combat drug trafficking, cultism, and criminal activities, while patrols and stop-and-search operations will be conducted statewide.

The governor emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering, whistleblower rewards, and rapid-response teams to root out criminals from hideouts. In addition, he announced a reward system, including a monthly N10 million bonus for Local Government Areas with zero violent crime and up to N5 million for whistleblowers with credible information on criminal activities.

Soludo reaffirmed his commitment to creating a safer environment, noting that addressing the evolving nature of crime requires both tactical and strategic approaches. His administration aims to foster a peaceful and prosperous Anambra for all its residents.

The event was attended by members of the Anambra State Executive Council, State Governors, Traditional Rulers, local government leaders, and dignitaries from the diplomatic community.
