US Forces Zero In On ISIS Bases in Nigeria

By Our Reporter

Just hours after the United States Military killed the top ISIS Commander hiding in Nigeria, the US Africa Command, AFRICOM, has carried out additional kinetic strikes against ISIS in Northeastern Nigeria.

According to AFRICOM,  which confirmed this on Monday, it stated that no US or Nigerian forces were harmed during the strikes, adding that the targets were ISIS militants.

The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian Government, came after the killing of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, identified as the second-in-command of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, ISIS worldwide.

It added that complete assessments were ongoing, reiterating that the removal of the terrorists diminishes the group’s capacity to plan attacks that threaten the safety and security of the US and its partners.

AFRICOM reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging specialized US capabilities in support of its partners to defeat shared security threats.
